Operation Chromite (R16)

Operation Chromite takes its name from a military operation that was carried out during the Korean War by General Douglas MacArthur (Liam Neeson) and eight members of the Korea Liaison Office (KLO) led by Navy Lieutenant Jang Hak-soo (played by LEE Jung-jae) to clear the way to carry out the Incheon Landing Operation. Two Royal New Zealand Navy frigates, HMNZS Tutira and Pukaki, formed part of the convoy escorts during the Inchon Landing Operation that proved to be a turning point in the war.

Based on a true story, South Korean Navy Special Forces, Lieutenant Jang Hak-soo and his 7 members disguise themselves as a North Korean inspection unit. Their mission directives from Gen.MacArthur are: 1. infiltrate the North Korean army command center in Incheon and secure the mine chart, 2. kidnap ‘Ryu Jang-choon’, the second highest ranking North Korean officer, and 3. on D-Day, light the Palmido light house as a signal to the main UN forces.

Despite growing suspicion from the clever tactician Commander Lim Gye-jin of North Korea’s People’s Army, Jang and his team successfully carry out their mission with the help of an underground information network. Then one day, their true identity is revealed… The film also features LEE Beom-su (The Beauty Inside, 2015), KIM Sun-a (The Fives, 2013), JUNG Joon-ho (My Boss, My Hero, 2001), PARK Cheol-min (The Pirates, 2014), KIM Byoung-ok (Old Boy, 2003), PARK Sung-woong (Office, 2015) KIM Young-ae (The Attorney, 2013) and MMA fighter CHOO Sung-hoon.
